Endowment Funds Offered

• Anne D. Haffajee Fellowship

  This Fellowship was created in recognition of Dr. Haffajee’s many contributions to clinical research in periodontology and oral biology and her prominence as a female leader and role model in the field. The immediate goal of this fellowship is to support women researchers at the early stages of their scientific careers.

  This Fellowship reached an important endowment milestone in 2016, which enabled the first fellowship to be awarded in 2017. Donations continue to be solicited so that the fellowship award amount can keep pace with inflation, be increased, and/or that additional fellowships be awarded. 

• William Butler Fellowship

  The William (Bill) Butler Fellowship was created in recognition of Dr. Butler’s many contributions to research in mineralized tissues and his prominence as a leading mentor and role model in the field. The immediate goal of this fellowship is to support researchers at the early stages of their scientific careers. The long term objective of this fellowship is to increase the representation of mineralized tissue researchers at the higher ranks in science and academia and who will serve as the future mentors in this field.

  Funding

  This Fellowship reached an important endowment milestone in 2022, which will enable the first fellowship to be awarded in 2023. Donations continue to be solicited so that the fellowship award amount can keep pace with inflation, be increased, and/or that additional fellowships be awarded.

• New Investigator Grant Program

  This grant will recognize original research by new investigators and is designed to stimulate basic research in all dental research disciplines. One grant per year will be awarded in the amount of $10,000 that must be put towards the candidate’s post-doctoral research, establishment of their laboratories, the completion of a research project, or preparing research for publication.

  Eligibility
  
  The candidate must be within 10 years of completing his/her last terminal degree (PhD, DDS, DMD, MD, etc.) at the time of the submission deadline.

  Researchers carrying out original research are eligible for the award if they have been the primary author of no more than three articles published in refereed scientific journals.

  Candidate must be an AADOCR member.

  Funding

  The grant is funded by an endowment of the AADOCR through the generous donations of its members. One grant per year will be awarded in the amount of $10,000 that must be put towards the candidate’s post-doctoral research, establishment of their laboratories, the completion of a research project or preparing research for publication. As part of the terms of the grant, the award recipient must: 1) submit a report within 12 months of receipt of the award which describes the results of the progress achieved as a result of the grant award; and 2) attend the AADOCR Annual Meeting & Exhibition in the year in which the award is made.

• General Operating Endowment

  These funds will be used as general AADOCR operating support to offset the day-to-day operating costs and to further the mission of the AADOCR. This important endowment will help keep the Association’s membership dues at a low level.
