Case for support

Dental research created a profession. In the early decades of the last century, investments in dental research moved a trade to a profession. From the fluoridation of public water supplies – a crowning public health achievement of the 20th Century – to high-speed handpieces, dental composites and ceramic restorations, periodontal diagnostics and therapeutics, and more biologic approaches to replacing lost tissues, it was the investments in dental research that defined us as a profession.

Despite these advances, challenges remain.

Only with your help…

AADOCR moves Research into Action. AADOCR is the only professional organization positioned to support and represent the oral health research community, provide scientific career development, increase opportunities for scientific exchange, advance research in all sciences related to oral health, facilitate the application of research findings, and advocate for oral health research.

Your support:

  • Provides student fellowships to stimulate interest in craniofacial, oral, and dental research careers and ensure an adequate pipeline of future scientists.
  • Assists AADOCR in fostering and developing junior scientists.
  • Allows AADOCR to amplify its dialog with policy makers, under the Friends of NIDCR umbrella, to increase funding for biomedical research.
  • Enables AADOCR to publish the highest quality articles in the Journal of Dental Research and JDR Clinical & Translational Research, and Advances in Dental Research.
  • Facilitates the application of research findings into practice and shortens the time lag from discovery to chair-side and to curb-side.

AADOCR Past President, David Wong, University of California, Los Angeles, explains why he donates to AADOCR.

Annual Support

Erin Ealba Bummann

"The student research fellowship has helped to support my research career by ensuring my committed time to research during dental school, which led me to apply for a Ph.D. Without this support I might have chosen a different path. This is one of the reasons I donate back to AADOCR to support these opportunities for future student researchers."
