AADOCR Gert Quigley Government Affairs Fellowship

This public policy fellowship is designed to familiarize graduate-level students with the federal legislative process in the context of dental, oral, and craniofacial research and the oral health care delivery system. Through this unique learning experience, students have the opportunity to learn about federal policymaking, work on projects to advance the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) policy priorities and meet with members of the scientific research and public health communities in Washington, D.C.

Eligibility

Must be a member of the AADOCR National Student Research Group (NSRG); and
a D.M.D./D.D.S., Ph.D. or dual degree student.

The Gert Quigley Fellowship program consists of:
- A one-year appointment to the AADOCR Government Affairs Committee, which advises the AADOCR Board of Directors and staff on federal and state advocacy efforts, aims to enhance appreciation for the role and value of oral health and oral health research among stakeholders, and increases support for the role of oral research in overall health
- Attendance at the fall and spring AADOCR Government Affairs Committee meetings in Washington, D.C.
- A role as the government affairs liaison to the AADOCR National Student Research Group (NSRG)
- A six- to eight-week work period with at AADOCR Global Headquarters in Alexandria, VA sometime between May-August, as the Fellow’s schedule permits.
